Gift Giving for the Holidays
Gift Giving for the Holidays
The dilemmas of gift giving for the holidays.
- One: What to you get for the relative or friend on your shopping list that has everything? That’s always a tough one.
- Two: What do you give a follow citizen in your community who has little or nothing? That’s easier.
Here’s a tip. Combine the gift - Give a donation in honor of that hard to shop for friend or relative to help provide food to the individuals and families who are struggling to meet their basic needs. Each dollar received at Tri-State Food Bank can generate $8.57 in food to the hungry. Gift of Love - click here.
Many people are facing crises in their lives from emergency situations, unemployment or under employment, seniors are facing high medical bills, and kids are returning to school after weekends without much food. Our programs help stretch family dollars so they can pay their bills and put food on the table for their kids.
The Tri-State food Bank once again is appealing to the community to donate food and dollars to help needy families in our community. Over 120,000 people in the tri-state are living in poverty, nearly 40,000 are children. In Vanderburgh County alone, over 25 thousand people fall into this category. Many are hard workers in low-wage jobs and your gift will help bring food and joy to their lives.
The Tri-State food Bank combats this hunger problem by providing food to various programs that include food pantries, soup kitchens, and shelters. We also provide food to programs targeting children from low-income families, such as Kids Cafe and the Backpack-Food for Kids program.
Tri-State citizens can help end hunger for many people by donating non-perishable food (no glass containers please), or actual dollars to the Tri-State Food Bank. Whichever you choose, please know that you are strengthening the power of people helping people.
Donations may be mailed in or dropped off at Tri-State Food Bank, 801 E. Michigan Street in Evansville, Mon. through Fri. between 8:00 AM and 4:30 PM, or you can donate on-line at www.tristatefoodbank.org.
Thanks and many holiday wishes from the Tri-State Food Bank Staff
Mary Blair, Executive Director
