Hoosiers Helping Hoosiers
During the month of February, Indiana state employees are participating in the Hoosiers Helping Hoosiers food drive to benefit Indiana residents in need. The Office of First Lady Cheri Daniels sponsors this annual food.
Food may be dropped off at the following local state agencies collecting for Tri-State Food Bank:
- Indiana Department of Child Services
- Indiana Department of Revenue
- Indiana Department of Transportation
- Evansville Children Psychiatric Children's Center
Horses Against Hunger
Horses against Hunger Foundation helps Tri-State Food Bank provide meals through a gift of $1,000 and 172 pounds.
Hunter Chancellor founded Horses against Hunger in 2011. This gift will provide approximately 8,998 meals for people needing food assistance. Learn more about this foundation at http://horsesagainsthunger.org/Home.html
Vanderburgh Community Foundation
The Vanderburgh Community Foundation awards Tri-State Food Bank $9,850
to help support the Weekend BackPack-Food for Kids program. $9,704 came from the Friends of Vanderburgh County and $146 from the Fund for Human Services of Vanderburgh County. The award was presented January 12 at the Vanderburgh Community Foundation's annual Breakfast of Community Champions. The BackPack program targeting schoolchildren at risk of hunger.
